Lyrics: i was sitting in the foothills of the scrapheap, studying a book of verse in my sleep. seems like nonsense now but it all fell into place back then. will you walk? will you walk, walk with me? you were like the pinups on my wall cut from the pages of the magazines. and i’ve walked through dreams ever since we met and i can’t let go no matter how i try. will you walk… i’ll take you to the top top of my world we’ll look down on all the people below. i’ll never know i’ll never know i'll never know just what goes through their minds half of the time and next week looks bleak, next month’s not too clever either. but i will build you a home i will give you shelter from the storm. if you walk, if you walk, walk with me. if you walk, if you walk, then you’ll see this scrapheap romance, the scrapheap romance I made for you.
2.
Lyrics: watched the smoke curl from your cigarette into the air empty eyes empty glasses blank despair stumbling over your words i turned away left you to it. i’ll go home by another road past where children are throwing bricks into the stream. he said he’d build a new Babylon in England’s mean and feckless land well I didn’t quite understand the premise nor the purpose why i must stand in line and wait for command. i’ll go home… between the priestess and the labourer cloaked in incense dirt and grime i’ve been wandering this holy earth since the dawn of time still finding things to surprise. i’ll go home…
3.
Lyrics: we sit we watch the colours fade over hills and trees and sky made from jade and pearl. and i would like to step out with you, would you like to step out with me? to the shooting gallery we’ll buy a gun and shoot your mum shoot your dad sisters brothers too. oh won’t you be my polka dot baby i’ll be your black sheep boy if you’ll do just this one thing for me. the question: ‘will you be mine?’. it felt like one from another time a more innocent age perhaps. and i would like to step out with you would you like to step out with me? step through the silver screen into somebody else’s reality. where you’ll be my polka dot baby and i’ll be your black sheep boy and you know it’s just a matter of time. because this is just the start i’ve a hundred ways to win your heart and i’ll keep coming back to you. oh won’t you be my polka dot baby? i’ll be your black sheep boy in the end there’s no sense in my question no use in your answer.

Lyrics: she puts a pot of sunflowers on her sill and makes a still life he makes a brew wait until i walk by on the other side staring at my shoes and singing… if you want me call i’ll wait for you by the gateway to the park wear my new dress put my best foot forward into the dark. and i’m swinging from the railings but failing to be heard against the roar of the evening which chews him up and spits him out again the house is dark and he’s looking down with no word for the feeling brimming… if you want me… and if her sunflowers wilt they might take the empire they built around them. she makes a still life, he makes a brew… if you want me…

Lyrics: the ink flies and the spiders are climbing up the wall the miner strikes gold and the hands bring in the harvest. all your dreams all your pretty mirages of fiddlers dancing across manicured lawns and we are velvet aristocrats swilling brandy round our bellicose mouths. the ink flies and the spiders are climbing up the wall the phantoms that you make will come to haunt your days. but it’s ok the monster’s mine don’t you pay him any mind i’ve fallen through the gaps in time it’s dark here below down in the centre of your world.
6.
Lyrics: over horizon i’ll go far beyond the old familiar there’s nothing to keep me hear save for chains of grief and pleasure. if i were a fool like you (and that is only too familiar) i would walk with my eyes closed never finding life’s true treasure.
7.
Lyrics: they’re shamed into silence poor weak derided made meek brought low made wretched. run to the green wood friend and fight there to the end the laws and leviathans come for you. dig the land that nature gave to find another way and build the new Jerusalem from the dirt. (then she said) gather round the fires that burn in funeral pyres for those who died with the sword in their hands. let glass and concrete shatter fears of future scatter the graves break open and light burst forth from our tombs. (all became madness) there were cries of joy and dismay as it all came down, down, down.
8.
Lyrics: i lost my love in the analogue fuzz ‘all you digital boys can only speak in binaries no subtleties’ said the old curmudgeon at the bar but he’s not far not far off the mark oh throw your darts slings and arrows sticks and stones i’ll crawl home tail between my legs beaten dog. and i tripped my hand was resting on you hip but it slipped away and i fell back losing grip on myself back into the analogue fuzz oh my analogue lover analogue love goodbye farewell.
9.
Lyrics: you flew too close to the sun again you flew too close to the sun the wax melts in your wings and brings you crashing back down to earth. and it feels so peaceful when you’re falling into the sprawling ruins of a city alight. and all the hordes and their scores of melancholy regimental whores are marching up the valley into the dawn. you flew too close to the sun and you must piece yourself together again winding up dry rivers shivering over the yellow lines. i saw a rose grow in your front yard and a blackened tree stands guard on your wasteland. and all the hordes… you stole so much that i can never remember and the gifts you give I will take i will cast aside. and all the hordes…
10.
Lyrics: don’t walk into the water don’t walk into the waves i will drag you under i’ll take you to your grave. you think that you know me your old fickle friend but you’ll never scratch the surface of these dark depths without end. so don’t walk into the water don’t fall into my arms i will drag you under feel the last beat of your heart. don’t walk into the water don’t walk into the waves i will drag you under i’ll take you to your grave. you think that you know me you think that you know me come play the drowning game with me i want to play the drowning game with you come play the drowning game with me i want to play the drowning game with you.
